website design

Building a new website is like setting the foundation for a house.  With so many details to deal with, planning ahead and managing the ongoing tasks is essential.  During our website design unit, students will examine professional websites as best-practices models and apply principles such as layout, color scheme, typography, and white space to create their own websites, using weebly.  From a focus on identifying a niche, purpose, and target audience to the importance of creating a well-designed navigation menu and consistently offering high-quality content, students will develop an appreciation for what it takes to craft and maintain an aesthetically pleasing website.

logo/graphic content creation

Creating a visual symbol that's simple, distinctive, and practical is more difficult than it sounds.  Designing logos and original graphic content that's easy to recognize and interpret,  while at the same time conveys a clear message and stands the test of time, is a challenge.  How important is this craft? Iconic logos and graphic art represent more than a company or brand or product; they trigger associations of emotions, values, and memories.  Students will study professional samples that are memorable and versatile.  They've not only endured the test of time, but they've influenced the design of others as well.  And then, using pixlr, students will experiment with elements of shapes, colors, and text to design their own multi-layered content.
